Spreading enjoyment around the world
Packaging materials from Greiner Packaging liven up shelves in India, Brazil, and Mexico
In recent years, Greiner Packaging has focused on expanding outside Europe. While the Austrianbased company has been one of the leading suppliers of plastic packaging in the food and non-food sectors in its home territory for decades, there was work to be done to establish a foothold and develop market share in Mexico, USA, Turkey, and India. Some best-practice examples show that the effort was not wasted – in cooperation with its customers, Greiner Packaging has been able to devise original and creative packaging solutions, which have caused a stir on the market.
Starting last year, Greiner Packaging has partnered with the Indian dairy company Gopaljee Ananda from its site in New Delhi, where the excellent service and process handling offered by its plastics experts made a particular impression during the project. The team implemented an update to an existing yogurt packaging design. Now, the cup charms consumers with a dry offset printed decoration, where previously sleeve decoration was used. The result is impressive – the colors in the decorative design now appear more vibrant, raising the product’s appeal to the family target group in the best possible way.

From its location in Pittston, North America, Greiner Packaging supports the Brazilian dairy start-up Umilk with its expertise. Since 2017, Umilk has marketed the only Icelandic-style skyr product in South America under the name “Moo.”
The company wanted its packaging to reflect the natural ingredients in skyr – a high-protein and low-fat dairy product similar to yogurt and quark. With that in mind, the plastics experts from Greiner Packaging worked with the customer to design a K3® cup made of cardboard and plastic that is unlike any other on the Brazilian market. The packaging solution underscores the product’s premium claim and allows the brand to interact more strongly with consumers thanks to two-sided printing options.
Natural, strawberry, honey, orange & ginger
Innovative products require innovative packaging. As a small start-up, the K3® cup from Greiner Packaging helps us raise our profile in the industry and achieve success. New products are already in the pipeline.
Greiner Packaging is proud of its long-standing partnership with the multinational beverage and food group Danone. In Mexico, too, Danone is now putting its faith in Greiner’s packaging services for a yogurt alternative made of almonds. Unlike in Europe, K3® packaging is still a new phenomenon in Mexico; the cup’s appearance matches the premium product, opening up a completely new enjoyment experience to consumers. Packaging for the Mexican market is produced at the Greiner Packaging location in Pittston, USA.
Natural, mango & pineapple, spiced apple, red fruits
Plant-based products are still relatively rare in Mexico; to the extent they are available, they are imported. Our fermented yogurt alternative is locally produced. We therefore looked for a packaging solution that would reflect the high quality and natural origins of our product from first glance.
