A prime example is the Flapper Lid – a thermoformed lid that doesn’t need to be fully removed from the cup to consume the product, thanks to its integrated flap.

Compared to conventional lids, this user-friendly solution is not only more convenient, but also more sustainable: the thermoforming process saves up to 35% in material compared to injection-molded lids.

• Resource-saving: The thermoformed Flapper Lid uses up to 35% less plastic than traditional injection-molded lids – reducing material usage and CO2e emissions. Depending on the application, the lid can also be made from up to 100% recycled PET. Alternative materials such as PP or PET are also available.
• User-friendly: During first opening, the flap is lifted, and the tamper-evident seal, which protects the product until first use, is removed. The Flapper Lid does not need to be fully taken off, making handling especially intuitive and enabling quicker consumption.
• Versatile: The Flapper Lid can be manufactured in various sizes and shapes, making it suitable for a wide range of markets.
• Child-safe: As an added feature, the Flapper Lid can be equipped with an integrated childsafety mechanism – ideal for products requiring special protection, such as detergents.
• Seal- or weldable: The Flapper Lid can be sealed or welded directly onto the cup, forming a fixed, inseparable unit with its second component – whether that’s a cup, tub, or similar container. When both components, such as the cup and lid, are made from the same material (such as PP or PET), the result is a mono-material solution that further enhances recyclability.
