Our approach

We take responsibility

The number of people on Earth is continually growing. As a result, more and more garbage is being produced and renewable resources are becoming increasingly scarce. We have to take steps to counteract these trends, and humanity needs to behave in a more sustainable way overall.

Reducing our ecological footprint

Greiner Packaging produces packaging made of plastic. This makes sustainability particularly relevant for us. We’re convinced that plastic is a must for cups, bottles, and similar types of packaging, as it allows their contents to be transported and extends the shelf life. Packaging made of plastic is especially lightweight. This means it causes only small amounts of CO2 during transport. But it doesn’t make sense to use it once and then discard it. Instead, it needs to be kept as a resource in the economic cycle. This missing loop is exactly what we want to put in place.

Our mission:

From a linear economic system to a circular economy: Our aim is to keep plastic out of nature and in the economic cycle for as long as possible. Today’s consumer goods become tomorrow’s raw materials.

Our goals

We think in a long-term, ambitious way

In 2018, we signed the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment launched by the UK-based Ellen MacArthur Foundation. In doing so, we’ve set ourselves the following goals for 2025:

  • We want to eliminate problematic and unnecessary plastic packaging.
  • We are aiming to make all our plastic packaging 100 percent recyclable, reusable, or compostable.
  • We want to use as much recycled material as possible.
