Comeback of the Year – Yoplait / Yogurt
The sense of aroma and taste are closely linked with emotions. So it is no wonder that the comeback of the custard style yogurt from Yoplait has put countless American consumers in high spirits. After a 10-year break, during which it was continually in demand, it has now been made available on the market again since January 2017, delighting consumers with a new formula and a new packaging made by Greiner Packaging. Those who have not yet heard of the comeback will be enlightened the moment they see the yogurt shelf. The unusually wide but relatively short cup shape is reminiscent of a bowl, and as a result, is quite distinguishable from other yogurt packaging.
The new shape does not just make the product a visual eye-catcher, however. Thanks to the wide cup opening, consumers can refine their creamy custard style yogurt with other ingredients, such as crispy muesli or sweet fruits. The cup is stable and facilitates easy stacking in the refrigerator, enabling true yogurt fans to easily stock up with a supply of any of six flavors. Last but not least, the packaging wins consumers over with its sustainability. The cardboard wrap can be easily separated from the cup and then disposed of. “We have long been looking for a package that can convey the features of our product visually in the refrigerated foods section,” explains CJ Kidd of Yoplait. “In Greiner Packaging, we have found a partner that is able to deliver a design that not only ensures visual differentiation, but also takes into account our sustainability requirements with its cardboard-plastic combination.”
